George Sfougaras uses symbols and metaphors to create visual stories. Using research, photography and first hand observation, his art explores the subtle and overt ways that people’s lives and identities are affected by national context and history, myths and points in time. He makes work at the intersection of art, history, and culture with the outcomes expressed in painting, illustration, print, books and 3D. George worked in education for 30 years and has developed curriculum materials for schools. He has exhibited widely and his work is in a number of private collections and Leicester Museum.
