Incorporating collage from her own experimental processes or patterns from dressmaking, Brigitte paints in layers in mixed media and in inks with oil paint.  She loves the tactile properties of materials - especially the delicacy of silk and has painted a large piece of silk towards an artwork for her group exhibition due in Penzance this summer.

Life drawing  is central to Brigitte’s artistic practice although there is no evidence of this in this current series due to lockdown restrictions. This series considers absence - shown as negative spaces in pale and neutral colours and lost communications articulated as handwriting which gently weaves in and out of focus.

At the beginning of lockdown Brigitte painted images devoid of figures and full of uncertainty. Since then she has painted with the inspiration of music, asemic writing and natural environments in mind and has recently returned to drawing from life.
